Successor to the old Darracq and Clément-Talbot companies, the Talbot-Darracq firm began production in Suresnes in 1920 under the control of the English STD Motors Ltd. In 1933 STD (Sunbeam, Talbot, Darracq) considered selling its French branch threatened with bankruptcy. The factories were taken over in 1934 by Anthony Lago, an Italian Army Major based in England. (The British side of STD was taken over by the Rootes Group).
